Opalescence^™ whitening has been shown to effectively lighten the internal colors of teeth. The World’s Smallest Knitted Cord

Knitting a cord small enough to fit into the sulcus was no easy task. In fact, it took 9 months to knit the first 1 inch of the size #0 cord. Once we had learned the best methods and techniques to knit Ultrapak cord’s microscopic loops, we learned we could make even smaller cords—all the way to size #000, the smallest knitted retraction cord in the world.

Knitted, Not Braided or Twisted

Prior to Ultrapak cord, all retraction cords were either twisted or braided. When the clinician tries to pack a twisted cord with a packing instrument, the instrument slips between the fibers of the cord. Braided cord elimintated that problem, but a braided cord is very rigid, which makes packing into the sulcus challenging. Knitted cords are flexible and allow for easy packing with an instrument. The microscopic compressible loops of the knitted cord afford greater interthread space than braided cord. Upon packing, the loops compress and express hemostatic astringent to underlying tissues. As loops open, a gentle, continuous outward force is exerted. A knitted cord is like a chain; it bends and stays put when packed into place.

Beam Collimation and Uniformity

The collimation of a curing light’s beam affects the amount of energy that reaches the restoration site. A beam that disperses will deliver less power than a beam that remains collimated; a dispersed beam can lead to undercured restorations and eventual failures. All VALO LED curing lights use a custom, multiwavelength light-emitting diode (LED) for producing high-intensity light at 385-515nm capable of polymerizing all light-cured dental materials. This intensity will also penetrate porcelain and is capable of curing underlying resin cements similar to a quality halogen light.

Every VALO curing light starts as a solid bar of tempered, high-grade aerospace aluminum, which is CNC precision milled at Ultradent’s facility in Utah, USA. The unibody construction ensures the VALO light’s durability and provides unsurpassed heat dissipation. The elegant, ergonomic, and streamlined design enables the VALO light to easily reach all curing sites without sacrificing patient comfort. The VALO light’s aluminum wand, machined components, and tempered glass lens make it the most durable curing light available.
