Sectional mechanics were used on the upper arch using a Utility Arch made with .016 x .016 Blue Elgiloy (E00304). Ricketts Synergy Brackets are being used (KM02615). On the lower arch a Wilson 3D Lingual Arch is used to narrow the transverse dimension in the area of the molars and to unlock the posterior crossbite.

This reduces friction and facilitates the alignment movements by allowing the wire to slide distally with minimal friction, during the leveling stage. All of the anteriors were ligated conventionally (around the outside tie wings) to increase the anchorage, delivering full friction to this area.
