BISCO’s PORCELAIN ETCHANT improves the adhesive bond between porcelain and cement by increasing the surface area of the porcelain to be bonded. The effect is similar to sandblasting but is more controlled and effective. PORCELAIN ETCHANT will microscopically roughen the feldspathic porcelain or glass surface.

BISCO’s PORCELAIN ETCHANT is available in 2 concentrations: 4% or 9.5% (Hydrofluoric Acid Gel).

Uni-Etch w/BAC is a 32% phosphoric acid semi-gel etchant that is effective at quickly etching enamel and dentin. Uni-Etch w/BAC is polymer-thickened and effectively removes the smear layer, etches and demineralizes enamel and dentin. It is easily manipulated into small areas such as endodontically treated root canals and undercuts. This makes it more versatile than some thicker gel etchants for etching all restorative surfaces. Published research proves that BISCO etchants produce higher bond strengths to (wet or dry) dentin1 and enamel.

Resin-Modified Calcium Silicate Pulp Protectant/Liner

TheraCal LC is a light-cured, resin-modified calcium silicate filled liner designed for use in direct and indirect pulp capping and as a protective liner under composites, amalgams, cements, and other base materials. It can be used as an alternative to calcium hydroxide, glass ionomer, RMGI, IRM/ZOE and other restorative materials. TheraCal LC performs as a barrier and protectant of the dental pulpal complex.

TheraCal LC’s precise placement allows its use in all deep cavity preparations. The light-cured set permits immediate placement and condensation of the restorative material. Its proprietary formulation allows for a command set with a light curing unit while maintaining ease of placement due to thixotropic properties. The proprietary hydrophilic resin formulation creates a stable and durable liner.

Unique Benefits:

Calcium release stimulates1* hydroxyapatite and secondary dentin bridge formation2,3

Alkaline pH promotes healing and apatite formation2,4

Significant calcium release1 leads to protective seal5,7,8

Protects and insulates the pulp5,6

Moisture tolerant1 and radiopaque – can be placed under restorative materials and cements

Clinical Significance:

The proprietary formulation of TheraCal LC consists of tri-calcium silicate particles in a hydrophilic monomer that provides significant calcium release* making it a uniquely stable and durable material as a liner or base

FAQ

What are the differences and similarities between TheraCal LC and Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA) material?
TheraCal LC is a resin-modified calcium tri-silicate that has enhanced physical properties when compared to MTA material. Essentially, the primary chemical used in both materials are similar (Portland cement) but TheraCal LC contains a patent pending hydrophilic resin, which allows for immediate light curing and facilitates calcium release. Similar to MTA material, TheraCal LC promotes healing due to the alkaline pH, and the calcium release assists in the formation of dentin bridge.

What is the difference between TheraCal LC and Calcium Hydroxide
Calcium hydroxide is the primary chemical contained in many dentin liners and pulp capping agents. One of the known limitations of calcium hydroxide-based materials is their relatively high solubility, which leads to dissolution of the material over time.

Do I need to bond before placing TheraCal LC?
Bonding is not required or recommended before placement of TheraCal LC on dentin. TheraCal LC allows the maximum amount of calcium release. However, in a non-retentive preparation (such as a Class V non-carious cervical lesion), a bonding agent may be used prior to placement of TheraCal LC for an enhanced bond.

I am using RMGI for liners and pulp-capping; why should I switch?
TheraCal LC promotes hydroxyl-apatite formation through ion/water exchange with the tooth structure. Resin-modified glass ionomers are unable to promote hydroxyl-apatite formation and have been shown to be cytotoxic to the pulpal complex. Due to the inclusion of polyacrylic acid, RMGI’s may actually inhibit apatite formation.

What can I use TheraCal LC for?
TheraCal LC can be used as a liner under all restorative materials. It can also be used as a direct or indirect pulp-capping agent.

Will TheraCal LC wash out over time?
No, TheraCal LC is virtually insoluble when compared to other traditional calcium hydroxide-based liners and pulp-capping agents.

FAQ

What is DUO-LINK UNIVERSAL and what are the indications?
Duo-Link Universal is a dual-cured luting cement intended to be used with an adhesive system.

Duo-Link Universal is ideal for cementing all-ceramic/porcelain, metal, and composite restorations (inlays, onlays, crowns, bridges), as well as fiber and metal posts.

What advantages does DUO-LINK UNIVERSAL provide over other resin cements?

Extremely high degree of conversion in both light-cured and self-cured modes ensures maximum performance for any clinical situation.

Ultrafine filler particles make Duo-Link Universal extremely resistant to wear and staining.

High filler content of Duo-Link Universal increases strength.

Low film thickness ensures the restoration can be completely seated.

Auto-mix dual-syringe guarantees a perfect mix, and easy placement.

What is the shelf life of DUO-LINK UNIVERSAL?
2 years

Do I need to refrigerate DUO-LINK UNIVERSAL?
No. Duo-Link Universal may be stored at room temperature (20°C/68°F-25°C/77°F).

What is the working time of DUO-LINK UNIVERSAL?
Minimum 2 min. (includes mixing)

Can I use DUO-LINK UNIVERSAL to cement veneers?
Yes, however, BISCO recommends the use of a light-cured resin cement such as Choice™ 2 for veneer cementation. When placing thin veneers, it is preferable to use only light-activated resin cements. Light-only polymerized cements allow for longer working time, do not need to be mixed, have shorter finishing time, increased color stability, and longer shelf life.

What adhesive can I use with DUO-LINK UNIVERSAL?
Duo-Link Universal is intended for use with an adhesive. Some manufacturer’s adhesives are too acidic to properly bond to self -& dual-cured resins. ALL BISCO manufactured adhesives are compatible with self- & dual-cured cements. If you are using an adhesive from a different manufacturer, please refer to their instructions for compatibility.

What is the best way to clean up DUO-LINK UNIVERSAL?
To aid in the removal of excess cement, initially light cure the margins for 2-3 seconds by waving the light over the restoration or remove excess cement prior to curing.

Do I need to pre-treat the surfaces of my indirect restorations?
Yes. Silane should be used to prime the surface of glass ceramics. Z-Prime™ Prime should be used to prime the surface of metals, composites, and Zirconia.

What is the possibility that I might see marginal discoloration?
In addition to proper marginal fit, the following should be taken into consideration:

We recommend that you do not use iron-containing hemostatic liquids with translucent all-ceramic crowns. A grayish tint may develop underneath the translucent restoration a few weeks after cementation. Do not use ferrous liquids at the impression appointment or seating appointment.

Hydrogen peroxide is a strong oxidizing agent that decomposes chemical initiating systems. Hydrogen peroxide is not easily removed from the tooth surface by a water spray. Typically, Amine and Peroxide are the two basic chemicals that make up a base and catalyst reaction in dental cements. The use of Hydrogen Peroxide should generally be avoided with all resin cements.

Contamination from saliva and crevicular fluids can be a major cause of discoloration. Use of a rubber dam, when possible, should be considered.

Is DUO-LINK UNIVERSAL compatible with pre-fabricated core build-up materials?
Yes. The surface of the core build-up material should be roughened. Use alcohol to clean and dry, apply an adhesive according to manufacturer instructions.
